So I registered my comic on TopWebComics. XDDD I don't have a chance, but it can't hurt, right?
I really like the "incentive" system. Basically, folks can vote once every 24 hours, but the creator can make incentives, which are like, secret comic pages or gag comics or previews or pinups or whatever. That seems like fun!! I can't think of any incentives though. ._. Help! I don't know what people are interested in. No porn though; who thinks about porn and sex during zombie invasions?! (AND THAT IS WHY I HATE HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD)

It's about 2 am and I'm sitting here doing "how much of a drawing can i do in 60 seconds" exercises...
despite all the problems i think this one is probably the best one done in 60 seconds.
BUT I should be inking. Page 10 of Survive!! still looks like this:
and it was my goal to get this page inked before i go to sleep tonight...

I think I've figured out the perfect "groove" for drawing mode, but it involves other people around me being productive (or busyish) at the same time. When people are just lounging about, it makes me feel lazy too.

While speaking with my grandparents, I felt very guilty. They asked how my Russian was going, and I had to admit that I hadn't taken an advanced Russian class for a while. :(
I do enjoy Russian and I like the idea of being able to talk more with my family in Russian, but I also need that valuable drawing time. :(
I wish I could sleep less, but I think I sleep very little as it is! I average about 4 hours a night per week (since sometimes I skip sleep on one day and then sleep for a long time the next day). If only I could function without sleep! Then I could work my full-time job, take classes, and still have many many hours of comic drawing.
The day needs 32 hours, not 24 hours! Also I need to stop typing in LiveJournal every time I feel like there's no time for anything else. What a waste of time!

The previous previous previous post about shoujo mode prompted a request (THROUGH AIM, YOU GUYS SUCK.) for non-shoujo mode starshade, haha. -_- But I actually haven't even begun to ink Starshade's comic because A) Accelagirl is still not done and B) I haven't decided on how it should be inked yet (do I go the tone route, the full on black ink route, or make it easily colorable...).

I threw some tone on to goof around this morning, but for the most part, this counts as a doodle comic at best. xD Just another "this happened today and i'm going to illustrate it" comic.

| Mysterious Artifacts of the Ancient World |

Yarrr..
So my ACCELAGIRL endeavor branched out because really, I could not make a solid story out of Accelagirl's adventures (past 3 chapter origin story), since she and Momoiro really don't have any solid enemies. Well, I guess Momo does have enemies, but I really don't like the cliché idea of ancient evil enemies hunting down the descendants in present day. I mean, it was a long time ago; not every villain spends eternity hunting down some hero... villains got things to do with their lives too! Plus those guys are probably already dead anyways.
After applying Accelagirl's adventure to STARSHADE's more masculine awesome angstastic apathetictastic story, it only added 3 more chapters (actually probably 4, the way the story is going). I don't want to get into the whole "Fight the Villain of the Day" thing without having a Story Story, so...
a much longer, more easily pitchable idea based on the fact that Accelagirl's origin seemed like a HUGE FREAKING COINCIDENCE. But in fact, it was not.
And this has given birth to a comic that I did not see coming at all. This comic amuses me to no end, you guys have no idea. Not only is the storyline itself fun (the A plot is very long but simple, and this is important to me) but the characters too!
My only gripe is that OH MY GOD I hate drawing so much. Contrary to popular belief, I don't like drawing at all. AT ALLLL. I only really started purely for having a medium to tell stories in (because I am horrible with words). I'd much rather be a comic book writer, to be honest.

Seriously, THE CURATOR is probably one of my favorite characters I've ever made (alongside Lance from Nochnoy, which I still haven't gotten out of my depression to start redrawing). I really like his personality (A-type, OCD, stressed out and angry, suicidal and fairly sadistic administrative office type guy, who should be hated but for some reason really gets people latched onto him) and the dynamic with the rest of the team fits so well, even though they've all got fairly "separate" stories.

Anywho, I'm sort of itching to finish Accelagirl's origin (7 PAGES DOWN, ....24 to go. Of one chapter out of three!! *dies*) so I can get started on this story already (I cheated and already sketched out the layout of most of the first chapter). I think I'll alternate between chapters (Do Accelagirl's, then do this one, then Starshade, then back to accelagirl?)
Ahhhhhhhhh
Also I'm getting back into my old non-sleeping habits again, and without much pain at all! I think it's all this inspiration fueling my adrenaline boosters.

Edit: Also, someone think of good synonyms to replace "Mysterious Artifacts of the Ancient World". That's the name of The Curator's exhibit, but I can't name the team that (even though I want to) because it sounds stupid acronymed! MAAW. or MAotAW. T___T |

this character & story got irritating really fast
i made the entire rough sketch of the chapter, but there were no words written in. when i started inking and typing in the script, i realized just how frustrating the main girl was. she's reflecting some people i've observed in real life, but because she's my own character, it's totally a different, and more annoying matter.
her friend is kind of mean, now that i think about it. ^^;
the only character i like is the guy, and even though he's that "perfect guy" type, his motivation behind him being so nice to the character is really kind of shallow. :/
i mean, i realize it's SUPPOSED to be just like high school relationships, but i can't help it if high school relationships themselves are totally stupid. @_@ |

In any case, now you guys are probably like "So WTF is the comic about anyways". I plan on posting the pilot here first, but seeing as how that's still only 50% resketched, you must wait. =w=
It's about the girl posted earlier, the guy posted earlier, and these guys:
The scanner at work is so weird!! The pencil is nearly as dark as the ink is, but only the inked parts scanned in well. O__O;
In any case, Lance and Raina recruit a motley crew of.... special people who have a few things in common: 1) they love making music and 2) they've each been living in seclusion because their existance is a mortal threat to humans.
Of course, Lance, in his condition, now believes that all people have a right to do what they enjoy regardless of who/what they are. The end up (somewhat forcibly) forming the five guys into a band, with Raina as their manager and Lance as the moving force behind them.
So this guy was originally (three years ago when the story was originally thought up) supposed to be the main character. He got demoted twice!

Strengths: Loyalty

Nochnoy Position: Vocalist
They dig him out of the forests in the southern part of Oregon, where he had been living alone as a hermit in a log cabin. He's got a bad attitude and has a problem with feeling sorry for himself and being emo. He was originally born in Sheffield but left after a bad incident, and wandered Europe and America, eventually settling down in Oregon. His accent is weird as a result, as is his personality. He can't help but sing when someone is playing guitar.

He's friendly, but all his actions and interactions with others are always devoted to pursuing his neverending goals. He probably doesn't care about anyone, unless of course, he needs them for pursuing said goals. He believes life isn't worth living unless you're enjoying it and that everyone is entitled to enjoying life (regardless of who/what they are), but he also pities people who don't have goals (because they probably don't enjoy life to the fullest, so they should just drop dead and stop wasting air). |

yeahhhh, it's not even remotely done; i wanted to post at least 3-4 pages at a time, but i was kind of getting annoyed with leaving my livejournal with such a sour recent entry.... so i'll lighten it up with an incomplete page one of a stupid late night comic. page two and three are giving me trouble, but i'll fix the badness of page one once i actually get to inking most of the fourth page out. quantity, er, speed over quality right now ;> not to mention it was kind of late, and i forgot to make the tone layers visible for the girls and the flash in the forest v_v |
